The regular season has ended, the records have been reset, and the quest for the state championship will begin tomorrow at 1:30. The Upper Dublin girls basketball team had quite the regular season, winning a total of 18 games and losing only 5. This was more than enough for the girls to capture yet another American Conference title and advance to the playoffs as the 6th seed.

Upper Dublin will face a familiar opponent in their first game, 27th seed West Chester Rustin Golden Knights. At the beginning of the season these two teams met here at Upper Dublin High School on December 8th, where the Flying Cardinals walloped the Knights by a tally of 58-28. Of course the girls will not relish in the past, as tomorrow’s game against West Chester Rustin should not be taken lightly.

Even though Upper Dublin won the first time by 30 points, West Chester Rustin has had some good quality wins this season. For example, the Golden Knights defeated a strong, well rounded Kennett High School team by 8 points. Kennett finished the year and also earned themselves a spot in the playoffs.

Although the girls experienced a tough loss in their most recent game against Central Bucks West High School (28-25) in the SOL Tournament semifinals, there were a lot of positives to take away from that nail biter. For one, the Flying Cardinals were able to hang with one of the toughest teams in the Continental conference let alone in all of AAAA basketball. CB West is known for its fast style of play and the Cardinals did a good job controlling them, playing excellent defense.

Come out and show your love to this wonderful basketball team tomorrow at 1:30 (2/13) as they look to make yet another deep run into the tournament and hopefully come out on top victorious!
